Public Relations and Media Unit
The Public Relations and Media Unit at The Center for Child Evaluation and Teaching (CCET) highlights the Center’s role and achievements, and strengthens its position within the educational community. This is achieved through a range of activities that showcase the services provided by the Center, raise awareness of Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD), and emphasize the Center’s contribution as a leading institution in research and intervention programs.
The unit also works to maintain strong connections with similar institutions at both local and international levels through active participation in exhibitions and conferences.
The Center for Child Evaluation and Teaching (CCET) established the Public Relations and Media Unit as a step toward strengthening its community role, including:
Raising awareness of Specific Learning Disabilities and correcting misconceptions about individuals with learning disabilities.
Presenting individuals with learning difficulties as capable and productive members of society.
Disseminating current scientific knowledge and key research in the field of learning disabilities.
Enhancing communication between the Center and local and regional institutions.
Facilitating communication between the Center and the wider community.
The unit plays an important role in producing awareness publications, as well as audio and visual materials across media channels and social media platforms. Over the years, it has also contributed significantly to organizing conferences and exhibitions across the State of Kuwait.
Some people confuse Specific Learning Disabilities with intellectual disability, slow learning, blindness, deafness, or behavioral disorders; however, none of these conditions are considered Specific Learning Disabilities. Although learning disabilities may coexist with other issues such as self-regulation problems, perceptual difficulties, or challenges in social interaction, these issues do not cause learning disabilities.
Similarly, learning disabilities may occur alongside certain external factors, such as cultural differences or ineffective or inappropriate instruction; however, learning disabilities are not caused by these conditions or influences.
